Figaro Coffee Company

Figaro has been around Davao for years now and they do have a lot of branches scattered around the metro. It isn’t my go-to coffee shop, so I haven’t fully explored their menu. Anyway, Yuan and I went to Gmall last Saturday to watch The Campaign. While waiting for the screening, we decided to grab some hot fix at Figaro, which was located at The Peak.Yuan’s Picks:

Strawberry Milkshake
I’m not sure if most guys love strawberry, but I do know that my boyfriend loves anything strawberry. In fact, he loves it more than I do! He tried Figaro’s version of Strawberry Milkshake. I took a sip and unfortunately, I did not like it. IMO, it’s not creamy enough to pass up for a milkshake. It lacks big time on the dairy part.
Grilled Chicken Sandwhich
We had full meals instead of desserts because we were dead hungry at that time. He ordered Grilled Chicken Sandwhich. I like the intricate presentation of the sandwhich, however, I was taken aback when I saw the green herbs in between the bread. Could you see it? I’m not really fond of herb spices. Surprisingly, the taste was subtle. In fact, the herbs were overpowered by the cheese and generous serving of grilled chicken. The dressing of the green salad was also pretty delish!
My Picks:

White Chocolate Mocha

Since it was raining, I figured it was the best time to put the frappes to rest and grab something fitting for the weather. I got the White Chocolate mocha since I wanted something that has lesser coffee. Gotta love the presentation of this, too. It still taste like coffee mocha, but with a creamy addition of white chocolate.

Classic Pizza

For my meal, I settled for Classic Pizza (Solo). Again, I pursed my lips when I saw the herbs! Thank goodness for the amount of cheese, pepperoni, and sweet onion, the herbs were barely noticeable. I actually loved it! I finished this whole 10-inch pizza all by myself! Don’t judge! =p

Sorry I don’t have the prices, as I wasn’t able to take note of them. But for your reference, the beverages costs around 90php-150php, while the meals costs 180php-250php.

Cafe France: Revisited

When Cafe France launched their first ever branch outside Metro Manila (read about the event HERE), they gave the attendees a 500-peso worth of Gift Certificate as part of the press kit. I revisited the cafe a few weeks ago with my boyfriend and my sister to maximize what the GC could offer.

Roasted Chicken with Macaroni Salad; Ala Carte 175php, with coke 205php

Yuan ordered Roasted Chicken with Macaroni Salad as per my recommendation (hah!). I wanted to try it actually during the Cafe France Media Brunch  but I wasn’t able to because I wasn’t really in the mood for rice at that time. Anyway, I had a bite of the roasted chicken. It’s soft, juicy, and flavorful. It has a subtle touch of sweetness. Some people may not like sweet tasting chicken, but I do like it though. This is something you should try. Meanwhile, the Macaroni Salad tasted a little bland for my liking. Though I understood that it was to balance the savory taste of the roasted chicken.

Premier Clubhouse; Half 105php
My sister and I opted to have Premier Clubhouse. As you can see on the photo above, it has equal portions of egg, smoked ham and bacon, and lettuce. I loved the smoked ham and bacon simply because I’m a sucker for breakfast food. The size of the sandwich was pretty overwhelming even though it’s just half a serving. I doubt if I can finish a whole clubhouse.
Mini Blueberry Swirl and Mini Apple Swirl; 27php
I wanted to try their Fruit Tarts, unfortunately, it wasn’t available yet at that time. I settled for the Mini Blueberry Swirl and Mini Apple Swirl instead. It’s nothing really special but I do like that the blueberry does not taste commercial “a.k.a” fake, you know what I mean? It’s real blueberry goodness stuffed inside a  freshly baked bread that’s crunchy on the outside, but soft on the inside.
Meet your Sugar Foodie! LOL!

And that’s it. Do visit Cafe France at:

– 2F Manila Bulletin Bldg, Rizal Street, Davao City
– The Peak, Gmall, Davao City

Happy Lemon Cocoa with Rock Salt and Cheese

Happy Lemon recently opened at The Peak, Gmall and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve read a lot of raves about it, and in fact, it was featured several times on national TV. Those reviews were enough for me to conclude that this shop deserves a space in my bucket list. I’ve already been there three times, and let me just say, Happy Lemon Cocoa with Rock Salt and Cheese is my new boyfriend!

Happy Lemon Cocoa with Rock Salt and Cheese, 90php (regular)
please excuse the watermark, this is a backlog and was supposed to be posted on my other blog.

In all my three visits, I’ve only tried one variant, and that’s obviously the cult favorite, Cocoa with Rock Salt and Cheese. See, that’s the problem with me. Once I get infatuated on something, I tend to comeback for it over and over again; I can’t help it. Believe me, I tried my best to try the other variants, but I end up ordering this. Why? Well because for one, the cocoa mix is to die for. It’s a velvety smooth, rich, and creamy chocolate goodness. It’s not too sweet, nor too bitter. Just the way I like it. Plus, the creamy rock salt and cheese makes the beverage truly interesting. A very refreshing drink to beat the heat. I’m in love with it. No kidding!

Happy Girl with Her Happy Lemon!

I promised myself to comeback and try the other variants. So help me God! =)

Happy Lemon is located at The Peak, Gaisano Mall Davao City. It’s on the second level, beside Red Mango.

Tried anything from Happy Lemon yet?

Hollywood Burgers: The American Diner

These past few months, there has been an infestation of new food places around the metro, what with all the new malls and mall expansions to boot. Hollywood Burgers is one of the newcomers and it’s set to give the people of Davao an authentic American Diner experience.

I got to try it last Sunday with Yuan. When I entered the place, I immediately thought of classic American Diners, where waitresses are wearing tight fitting mini-skirts and roller blades. Hollywood Burgers does not have girls on wheels, but their waitresses sure do wear extra mini skirts (with stockings, of course). Plus, the set-up is truly Americanized, if you wanna call it that way. Anyway, the place was pretty congested when we got there, but we were too tired to even bother looking for another place.
