Summer in Bemwa Farm Davao

I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with summer. Some days, I like going to the beach and soak under the heat of the sun until my skin becomes warm and toasty. And then there are days when I just want to lock myself inside an air-conditioned room until the temperature drops later in the night. But there are also days when I want to enjoy a fine summer day without dealing with the heat. My solution? I go to the highlands.

Case in point: The past two weekends, I found myself traveling to BuDa – a road where buses and private vehicles pass by as they make their way from Davao City to Bukidnon (hence the name BuDa). It is often dubbed as Davao’s own little Baguio and Tagaytay because of its cool weather. Along the way, you’ll find several mountain resorts where you can enjoy the cool breeze and scenic view of the highlands.

Fresh Lettuce and Strawberries

There are several pit stops that you can visit in the area and one of them is the Bemwa Farm located in Brgy. Salumay, Marilog District, Davao City.

The farm is known for their lettuce and strawberries (although they don’t have berries at this time). Here you can find rows and rows of lettuce of different varieties across the open field. They also have a nursery for the seedlings. You can buy freshly picked lettuce for as low as 75php/bag.

Foodie Favorites

There is a 50-peso entrance fee to the farm, which you can actually use to buy food. They have a mini-canteen that offers Filipino favorites such as Suman, Puto Maya with Sikwate, Lugaw, Pastil, Strawberry Taho, Fresh Garden Salad, Champorado and Fried Ice cream.

My personal favorites are the lugaw and suman! ❤

How to Get There

Bemwa Farm is a 2-hour drive from Davao City.

From the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal, take a bus going to Bukidnon. Ask the driver to drop you off the iconic eagle statue in BuDa. From there, the only transportation available is a motorcycle (habal-habal). Just tell the driver to take you to Bemwa Farm.

If you have a private vehicle, keep an eye on the signboards going to Hills View Mountain and Gethsemane Garden ( a few meters away from the eagle statue). Take a right turn and keep driving until you find Bemwa Farm.
