Tang has introduced a new Sweet Orange flavor that is available only in Mindanao. The instant powdered drink mix is “timplang ato” using a special “mas lami” blend created especially for the region.
Mindanaons have a sweet tooth, you can tell right away just from their popular pasalubong items—pastries like piaya, pastel, yema, pastillas, and fruits like mangosteen and durian.
This is precisely why Tang created a new, sweet surprise for Mindanao—New Tang Sweet Orange.
“Tang Sweet Orange is preferred by 7 out of 10 Mindanaoans,” said Lawrence Lorico, Tang brand manager.
He noted that in a study conducted by Mondelez Philippines (formerly Kraft), more moms and kids prefer Tang Sweet Orange for its overall taste, sweetness, and appearance.
“Mindanaoans have a strong sense of pride in their home region. Even their taste preference is unique,” he said. “That’s why Tang wants Mindanao to celebrate its heritage by creating the New Tang Sweet Orange flavor just for them.”
To come up with this special flavor, a team of Tang food scientists were flown in to Mindanao to conduct on the spot recipe testing and shared them with locals to get their immediate feedback and gauge liking.
“We formulated a beverage using their local water and their sweet palate,” Lorico added. “The result is a unique Tang flavor that caters to the Filipino taste but does not skip on quality because it is made from world-class ingredients.”
Tang Sweet Orange is also Halal-certified and has Fruit Power 7, making the drink a good source of vitamins A, C, B2, B3, B6, iron and folate. Vitamin A supports healthy eyesight while vitamin C boosts the immune system. The B vitamins help release energy from the foods we eat; iron and folate supports healthy blood development.
An ideal accompaniment to everyday meals or simply as a refreshing drink any time of the day, Tang Sweet Orange is available in 25 gram sachets for only P8.95 at supermarkets and sari-sari stores in Mindanao.
